Welcome to the First Annual "Cardinal Cup" freestyle competition & jam, hosted by Stanford Footbag Club!

A little background on the history of footbag competition at Stanford:

For those of you who don't now the history, this event usually happens in combination with the "Green Cup" footbag net competition, presented by Chaos footbag club in Oakland, California. However, the Oakland event is not happening this year, so we have set up a separate freestyle event on our home turf at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California -- and we've renamed it the "Cardinal Cup".

It may surprise more recent players to learn that Green Cup actually took the place of another event that was hosted at Stanford for 10 consecutive years (from 1993 to 2002). That event was the Western Regional Footbag Championships, which ended in 2002. So, one way to look at this is, for the first time since 2002, freestyle competition is returning to Stanford!

This is a 1-day event, with option for a second day if enough people are still around and want to play on Sunday as well. But we will only organize events for the first day.

Online registration is open now, so let us know if you're attending (even if just as a spectator) by registering online (entry is free for everyone!). Detailed directions to the event site are available on the Stanford Footbag Club club listing. The event will actually take place on the outdoor stage next to Dinkelspiel auditorium, or in an open area nearby if that is occupied. There is free parking on weekends in the Tresidder Student Union parking lot and all "A" and "C" lots nearby.
