Open singles, doubles and mixed net (come on out ladies), Golf for everyone!
What a great weekend of Footbag fun in Vancouver. The sun was shining all day long Saturday and there were a few clouds in the sky and a breeze on Sunday. Saturday saw singles and mixed doubles played down to but not including) the finals. A couple of things of note, for the first time ever an Albertan made a podium finish in a net event in Vancouver. Yes, the illustrious and almost indomitable Pat Quinn made it to the semis in singles. He realized a lifelong dream in getting to play Kenny Shults in the semis. Though Pat scored more than a few points in each of the two games he found himself playing for third place shortly after that. Congratulations Pat, we're all proud of you and what you accomplished this year. The stage was set for a singles final with 6 time champion, Chris Siebert, and Kenny Shults ready to do battle. Mixed doubles ended up with Evanne Lamarche/Andy Ronald vs. Leanne Makcrow/David Bernard ready to square off on Sunday as well. The day turned into evening and we convened at Leanne's house for a BBQ and a few beers donated by the Spring Brewing Company. Sunday started off with the seeding of our 9 doubles teams. All in all, we had 20 participants this year. After some hotly contested pool play, quarter and semi finals, the stage was set for a finals match between the 6 time champions Steve Dusablon/Chris Siebert and Dave Bernard/Kenny Schults. In the end, one streak was broken and another remains to be challenged for next year at our 25th Annual Event. See below for the details of how it all played out.
