Its third year in existence, the Colorado Shred Symposium is truly a
spectacle of the best talent Footbag Freestyle has to offer. Within the
two day event, there will be a variety of Freestyle competitions held,
including a shred contest, a big three, and sick one trick contest. Day
one will be held at the Mt. Zion Church and School Sports Facility.
Day two however will be held up on the CU campus, in the Glenn Miller
Ball Room at the UMC. We expect a wide variety of players and
performers to attend, both local and out of state. This includes many of
the current top professionals. Players will be competing in both
intermediate and professional categories.
Event Details:
The hotel for the 2002 Colorado Shred Symposium will again be the
Golden Buff Lodge (Best Western) located conveniently near the
Toadstool and downtown Boulder, at 1725 28th Street. Their contact
number is 303-442-7450, or 1-800-999-2833, for reservations. The
average cost for a room is between 65 and 75 dollars a night, depending.
Driving Directions:
From the airport: Take I-70 west, to I-25 north, to 36 west, on into
Boulder. If you stay on 36 west, it will become 28th street as you enter
Boulder. The hotel is very close to the intersection of 28th and
Canyon.
Day 1 site directions: (Driving)
To get to Mt. Zion Church and School (1680 Balsam Ave) from the hotel,
go north again on
28th street. About half a mile down will be the cross street of 28th and
Valmont. Take a left and go towards the mountains. You will drive about
a mile, and when you get to 19th street, Valmont will turn into Balsam
automatically. Stay straight, and about four blocks up on your left will be
Mt. Zion. Turn on 17th street and park in the school parking lot. The
sports facility is right there.
If you are on foot, this will be the quickest way to Mt. Zion.
From the hotel, walk north up to Pearl Street. take a left here and go
west towards the mountains. You will walk about mile, until you meet 20th
Street. Take a right here, and go north again. 20th will go up and down
a small hill. Coming down off this hill 20th will turn into 19th Street
automatically. Right after the hill also you will see the cross streets of
19th and Balsam. Take a left and go west up Balsam about four blocks,
and you will see Mt. Zion on your left, the cross streets being 17th and
Balsam. It's about a half hour to 45 minute walk, from the hotel.
Directions to the UMC (day two):
From 36, take Baseline west as you are coming into town. This will
take you toward the mountains. Baseline crosses Broadway, and here
you will want to take a right. Take a right on Euclid Street, and directly to
you left will be the UMC (1669 Euclid). Parking may be easier across
Broadway.
From the Golden Buff hotel, go west on Canyon towards the
mountains. About a mile and a half up there will be the cross streets of
Canyon and Broadway. Take a left and go south on Broadway. Soon
you will be traveling with the University on the left hand side of you.
Broadway will cross Euclid another mile down. Park anywhere around
there, and the UMC will be right at the intersection of the two streets, on
the campus side.
