Hello, My name is Lon Smith.
I've been playing Footbag since 1993 when I quickly became a huge fan of Hackysacking. A coule years later Peter Irish, Tim Kelly, and Sam Conlon came to my school and taught us how the pros play Footbag and not "HackySack" and after that the whole sport blew up at my high school for the next 2 years. That's when I met Reuben Cohn, Dave Hillis, Toby Robinson, Hata Hill, and many others that all had the shoes and got quite skilled as well as some of my even closer friends Joe Crain and Cody Roberts. As we practiced over the next few years I got skilled and recognized for it at Western Regionals in 1997. That's around when I focused even more and got interested in helping out with the world records list and footbag lingo in general.
I managed the World Records List Derric Scalf started after he was helpful in turning the responsibility of it over to me. I had help from others and many of the records are still visible on the World records official and unofficial lists on this site.
I also helped with the beginning popular sway of four square. The Original set of Four Square Rules as I remembered them was made up by Joe Crain, Cody Roberts, and Myself. I shared the game with some players in Colorado and it spread quickly around the world.
I am honored to have been featured in many of the old VHS shred videos.

(In the spring of 2007 I received a phone call from a friend of a friend who was hired by someone Modest Mouse hired to recruit video directors like himself to create music videos for each song off their newest album called "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank".
