This jam was set up by James and Mike. We were suposed to be in Iowa by 12pm initially. But events were set in motion that conspired against our plan to arrive on time. Ok not really, people were just draggin', as usual. But I'm not pointing any fingers . Photo by Tom K.

James Risden. So I go through all this stress of getting the guys together at the same place and at the same time so we could get to the jam at a reasonable hour. We get to Iowa at 4pm worried that we missed everything only to find out that the knucklehead pictured here went and changed his schedule at work and wasn't getting off work until 7pm . James in action. I don't like using the flash on my camera. Besides, it annoys the players and its obstructed by my wide angle lens. The shots look dark and grainy but I still think it makes for some interesting pics. Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

Tim Werner. That black area near his left cheek is mostly his half-beard with just a little shadow. But mostly beard... don't ask cuz I dunno. Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

After the session at the church tentative plans were made to kick again Sunday morning before James went to work at 2pm. I already knew it wasn't going to be that easy. Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

Mike, Tom, Tim, Brad, Bijan, and I went back to the hotel. Bijan slept while the rest of us got some dinner. Oh, and Bijan, that wind on your face was just a dream... aaaaaaaaanyways we got bored and started checking out the hotel. Unfortunately we got back too late to make use of the pool and hot tub. After being in some places we probably should not have been in, we ended up chilling and talking about all kinds of stuff in one of the hallways until a hotel worker asked us to go. By 4am Mike and Brad were asleep. I got only a few hours of rest due to a sore back and woke at about 6-7 to find that Tim and Tom had been up and were addressing a serious issue and I would chime in every so often. Eventually we all fell asleep. Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

Somehow we slept through a hotel wake up call and an alarm clock. Tom eventually got up and I went to the pool with him. We had a to wait a bit to get into the hot tub. It only took a few minutes in there to forget I had a sore back from kicking the day before. We made our way back to the room. James called to see if we were awake and still wanted to kick. He really wanted to play soon since he had to work in the early afternoon. He was so anxious to go he met us at the hotel to make sure we were up and ready. Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

After check-out we decided to get something quick to eat at a nearby Burger King before the jam. James suggested we all hit the drive though since it would be quicker and he was in a rush. Good idea. Great thinking, buddy. So we parked our cars and went inside and ordered to go. Wait, what? Yeah, that's right we went in anyway, hehe. Again, don't ask cuz I dunno. It was about a 20 minute drive to the spot on the river where we kicked. James ended up calling in late to work so he could kick some more. I ened up wrestling him to the ground twice to get back at him for farting on me. Good times. Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

In the first takedown I ambushed him and got him in a high firemans carry. I jogged over to the grass with him on my shoulders and dumped him on his back. I attacked his right arm and tried to lay back for an armbar but he was expecting it and quick to react. He popped back up and tried to lean over me so I released his arm turned my hips and grapevined his left leg and finally submit him in a kneebar. Just for the hell of it I changed it to a figure 4 ankle lock. Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

He was already expecting something the second time. I got him in a waist lock but he sprawled back and managed to get a good position by moving above and behind me. Before he could attack me though, I executed an arm drag/sweep and got him on his back. I got a sloppy cross mount and immediately attacked his near arm and went for a keylock. His arm was too flexible to have any effect though. He managed to place his elbow on my throat to prevent me from getting better leverage on my submission move. So I moved his right arm across his neck and put my upper body on it while my arms locked around the back of his neck. I moved my hips off the ground and got on the tips of my toes to add more pressure. He had no choice but to tap out to my shoulder choke. . Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.

It was all in good fun. I'm just making sure 'The Defender Of The Universe' stays sharp. That and I don't appreciated being farted on, lol. . Photo by Alex "Zeke" Ibardaloza.
