All the events take place in the Töölö Sports Hall B (see map), and there is no entrance fee for spectators. Join the fun, bring your friends, and be blown away by the footskills of world class athletes!

“This is a really interesting project, since we don’t usually get to design any sort of trophies in school. Footbag wasn’t really familiar, so it was nice to get into it. I started the process by discussing with the organizers about the sport and the tournament: what sort of values they have, and should the trophy represent something. Some of the keywords that came up were urban, wood and nature. The tournament team also wanted to have the tournament logo in the trophy in some way.

I made different sketches of the ideas, and after more discussion we had a design that satisfied everybody. So it was time to start the fabrication.

I used CNC machining to carve the pieces out of oak and acrylic, and laser to burn graphics on the acrylic bottom. The three-piece design was quite simple to put together, but required precision and care to get just right. Finally after hours of sanding, oiling and polishing the trophies were ready.

I’m happy with the design of the trophies as they look really cool and incorporate a lot of the features the organizers and I wanted and still they are simplistic and clean. I’m satisfied that the tournament organisation is as happy with the trophies as I am. This was a nice project, and I am glad I had the opportunity to be part of the World Footbag Championships.”

• The official tournament check-in takes place at the Gringos Locos bar & terrace (Mannerheimintie 17) from 5 pm to 10 pm (17–22) on Saturday evening. If you’re in town by then—at least all singles net players better be—please come and claim your player’s pack and booklet. Grab a beer or a burrito for your refreshment after a long flight

• If you are a freestyle player competing in any routines event, note that the tournament check-in is the last chance to deliver your music! (Read the details at Modified.)

• The tournament schedule has been updated during the last few days. Please look up the times and locations of the events you’re participating in and make sure to adjust your other plans accordingly. For all net events, a more detailed timetable will be soon available at the Tournament Software website. (More on that in our previous post.)

Separate schedules for freestyle, net, and parties are also available as public Google Calendars you may subscribe to. Just pick the format you want for freestyle (XML, ICAL, HTML), net events (XML, ICAL, HTML), and/or parties (XML, ICAL, HTML). The schedule page is dynamically generated out of these calendars, so they are never out of sync.

For the first time ever in a footbag tournament of this magnitude, Worlds updates footbag net results online in real-time.

No more gathering little bits and pieces of results from here and there. We are using a professional tool called Tournament Software to give you access to all Worlds footbag net results from one place as they come in. Not only tournament results but also pools, brackets, match orders, courts and player stats will be found from the Tournament Software link that will be incorporated on the Worlds web site.

All matches and schedules will be found online once the final seeding is done. Meanwhile you can check the software and results from the European Footbag Championships from here:

You can pay the registration fee by PayPal. Bank transfer is still an option if you’re in SEPA area, but it is not recommended anymore. Remember that PayPal transfers the money instantly, bank transfer does not. Please make sure your registration is paid when the registration closes on July 17th. Go ahead now and register here. Registration takes just a couple of minutes, so there is no reason not to do it now.

If you don’t have a partner, that’s okay -- go ahead and register and pay without a partner for each event you need a partner for. Then, when registration closes, we will send email to each registrant giving a list of available partners who have registered, so you can pair up. It will be up to you to confirm your partnership with your partner, and to update your registration form. (It will be possible to add/remove artners for 24-48 hours after the deadline. But you may not make any other changes at that point.)
