Dear Competitors,

Our 10th Annual Midwest Regional Footbag Championships was bigger and better than ever! With 42 full day entrants and an additional 33 novice players on Sunday our event boasted 75 players total. Almost double our best previous count!

Thanks to everyone who travelled great distances to be with us, as well as all of our new and veteran local players. This event is for you, so make sure you fill out the evaluation card and drop it in the mail ASAP. It is pre-stamped so it costs you nothing but your time, and it provides valuable input for us concerning the direction this event will take for years to come.

A complete listing of results is enclosed and has been forwarded to the World Footbag Association and to Footbag News for future publication.

The weather was great, and the competition was fierce! Ted Martin and Andy Linder attempted to break their Doubles Distance One-Pass World Record. They did not get the record, but did manage to land squarely in first place for the event. Out-of-towners included Derrick and Ida Fogle, who traveled from Columbia, MO. Davie Piper came all the way from Bolivar, MO, Laura Creagh from Austin, TX, Kelly Kelley from Dallas, TX and Heather Thomas travelled from Houston, TX . Charles Simmers and Leilani Rector journeyed from Memphis, TN... and rumor has it that they are resurrecting the St. Valentines Day Footbag Massacre (for those who don't know, it was the premier winter footbag net tournament until 1991), we wish them great success and encourage everyone to attend! The furthest travelled honorary mention goes to James Harley from Columbia, South Carolina. Out-of-towners should know that when they travel through Chicago, they must pay homage to Schwa by calling us and setting up a kicking jam session. Thanks!

Because of the sheer number of female competitors, we ran a Mixed Doubles event which ran a little longer than anticipated, we apologize. Look forward to Mixed Doubles Net as a published event for '95 in a single elimination, 1 game to 15 format. A special thanks to all the female competitors... may your numbers double while your game continues to improve!

We should all be proud, the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce as well as the Mount Prospect Park District expressed their gratitude for our participation in their premier event and they have already extended their invitation to us for next years' event which will be held June 10th and 11th, 1995. The festival was a great success and we took top honors as the hottest new addition to the event.

We wish to thank all of the participants who stayed late after hours at the end of an already long day and gave their assistance in tearing down and cleaning up the site. The only evidence we left at the site was some paint on the grass and a rainbow in the sky!

Local folks consider yourselves notified... Footbag Classes start at RecPlex in Mt. Prospect Sundays from 2-4 in the fall sessions, and Saturdays from 1-3 in the winter sessions! This means you can get instruction from top pro's, indoors for the next 28 weeks for only $20 per 7 week session. Call the MFA for more info!

We look forward to seeing you next year! Bring a friend, spread the word and most importantly, kick a footbag everyday!

Your friends and tournament directors,

Valerie & Scott Davidson copyset@aol.com
