Freestyle Acronyms and Jargon

- ADDs
- "Additional Degrees of Difficulty" fundamental building blocks of almost all freestyle tricks.
- Alpine
- A move with an uptime component that incorporates a duck, dive or weave. legbeater = atomic butterfly therefore alpine legbeater = atomic ducking butterfly.
- B2B
- "Back-to-Back" hitting a trick twice consecutively. Usually used for moves that switch sides each time e.g. atomsmasher b2b
- Backside
- Refers to when the downtime component of a multiple dexterity trick is performed symposium
- BAP
- The Big Add Posse
- Beast Combo
- Three individual tricks strung together as a combo that are all 6 ADDs in value.
- BOP
- "Butterfly/Osis/Paradox-Mirage" considered the basic and most fundamental 3-ADD tricks.
- BS
- Can stand for "Both Sides" or "Backside"
- BSOR
- "Both Sides One Run" an alternate way of saying "BSOS"
- BSOS
- "Both Sides One String" performing a specific move on both sides in one string/run
- Dex
- Short for "Dexterity"
- Dexterity
- Circling the bag with the leg(s) while it's in the air
- Fetish
- When a player slaps or kicks themselves while playing footbag
- Flip / Flipside
- A player's weak side where it is harder to hit a given move or concept
- Froggy
- Used to describe bad form on spining or gyro moves when the player begins the spin before the bag leaves the setting foot. Froggy spins are not considered clean.
- Frontside
- Refers to when the uptime component of a multiple dexterity trick is performed symposium
- FS
- Can stand for "Flipside" or "Frontside"
- Hippy
- A term used to describe the nature of a dexterity where the motion is primarily actuated by the hip.
- Leggy
- A term used to describe the nature of a dexterity where the motion is primarily done with the lower leg.
- PDX
- Short for Paradox
- PS
- Short for Paradox-Symposium
- PWF
- Short for Paradox-Whirl-Free. Used to describe difficult moves or combos that do not have a paradox whirl element
- Rev
- Short for "Reverse" for such moves as reverse whirl and reverse swirl
- Shred Circle
- When players stand around in a circle and shred.
- SS
- Short for "Same Side".
- Slurry
- Used to described uptime dexterities that are not clean because the dexterity leg moves over / clears the bag before it leaves the set foot. Slurry dexes are not considered clean and do not count for ADDs.
- Symp / Smp
- Short for "Symposium"
- Symple
- A one-footed jumping dexterity, where there is not support from the opposite foot until the next contact.
- Symposium
- A dexterity performed from a one-footed jump, where the dexterity foot was planted and the other foot was not.
- "The"
- A term refered to describe dexterity moves where leg does not fully circle the bag. "The" dexterities do not count for ADDs.
- Thin
- A term used to describe questionable dexterity moves where it is unclear whether or not the leg fully circled the bag.
