NOTE: This is a cross-post from the Open discussion forum. I've also posted it here because I want to make sure I reach all the footbag makers around here.
Hello everyone,
I've gotten sucked into helping the American Cancer Society in St. Louis MO with a fundraising 'footbag camp'. I was going to donate a bunch of my own old footbag stock to them, but I was also hoping for some help from those out there who actually make footbags.
What I want is ONE footbag donated from anyone who makes footbags that can spare one. And, it must be autographed by YOU the footbag maker. Those footbags will be sold or auctioned off at this footbag camp to raise funds for the St. Louis chapter of the American Cancer Society.
This doesn't put a real high demand on any one footbag producer, but just one footbag from each of the people that makes footbags would be so cool.
If anyone wants to participate, you can email me back at derrick@fogles.net.
Umm, footbag camp for cancer??
Do you have anymore information on this? It sounds interesting. Unfortunately I have no sewing skills so I can't donate. But I'd like some more info.

The American Cancer Society is going to host a 'footbag camp' as a fundraiser. It's not a camp specifically for kids/cancer survivors, it's just an event to raise money for the St. Louis chapter of the ACS. The camp is for everyone, although they are targeting high school/college age kids to come to the camp.
We are going to try a few fun things, like the typical plege drive (a penny a kick for a 5-minute timed consecutive rally); a take-off on the pledge drive where people pledge money to see specific tricks (we'll have a big board set up with trick names and how much it will cost to see the trick done); we may be able to get me, Sam Conlon, and Scott Davidson there, and if so we'll have a freestyle contest where the audience votes for the best by putting money in our boxes after our routines; plus closest to the pin, and if I can come up with some decent net players, a skins-game-like fundraiser at the net.
The core of the thing, though, is the camp itself, where I, Sam, and maybe a few other seasoned kickers will be running 'kicking camp' sessions, just hacking with the kids, helping them learn how to kick, do tricks, etc.
It's been a long time since I've been involved in any kind of footbag event, but this looks like a lot of fun and close enough that I can actually do it (2 hrs drive for me and my fam).

If you can stitch a round bag - of any kind or design - and autograph it and mail it to me, that's exactly what I'm looking for. The event is on April 17th, so there's plenty of time.

Sorry I can't help ya out (I don't stitch ) but this seems like a great event for a great cause! Helps raise money for cancer research, and helps raise awareness for footbag. Two birds, one stone I say...
Congradulations on doing all of this stuff, it's great that you are using your own time to help others. Best of luck.
