I have a wedding in Canberra on the 29th September - I think the October Public Holiday is the first - also it's the weekend of the Grand Final.
We can still do it that weekend but obviously someone else would have to put their hand up to run Saturday as I wouldn't be there and people might be more interested in watching the final particularly in the unlikely event that their team will be taking on the Swans.
I don't think the public holiday applies in Vic or Tas anyway so we can just as easily do it later in October. |

Hey guys, sorry I haven't commented in a while.
I personally don't mind where we hold it as long as we hold it, even if its more like a gathering than a real championships. I think we should start getting a date in soon so people have time to get flights etc. As a backup, personally dont mind organising the same event as last year here again, or even out in Bendigo if I can get Jamie involved. Sydney would be good, even if its just a friday-monday thing like we usually do. I can get time off whenever I want to, so any dates are good for me. The other option we have is to fly somewhere and just randomly have the event (like Bali lol).
Been kicking a little but still got no company down here. Really hoping I can find some players soon. Also need to go play with some of the best to improve my form, but worlds is too expensive, hopefully it goes to Canada or Us next year.
Thanks guys |

I think the Australian Championships should always be in Australia. Not in Bali, or for example, Chile.
I think at the moment no one really has the level, or the desire to take the "show on the road", for example, to join a festival in Cairns or something.
Most of the players in Australia just like to get together every once in a while and see their friends, the competition is just a minor part of it. I agree though, it should definitely happen - and you never know, I may come back just for the event (let's see). |

| I would be in favour of having it late in 2012. Perhaps around November or December? |

| Later in the year would be okay - although it would mean I'm less likely to go out of Sydney. I may be able to swing a weekend in Melb in November, but prob not in December. |

| I thought we'd already confirmed Sydney as the venue - I'm certainly happy with that. I don't think anybody else has put in a proposal. Of course the hosts should choose the best dates for them, but hopefully one that suits everybody else too. |

Any word on a date and place yet? I have football until mid November so anytime after that would be preferable.
Also anyone interested in Oom jam VI? |

| I'm interested in some kind of event around that time - Oom or somewhere else. After mid Nov for nationals would be fine with me too. |

Given the small number of active players I'm keen to get bang for our buck by keeping costs down, making it fun and laid-back, but still putting footbag in front of some people.
With that in mind I'm gambling on getting good weather and planning on having Nationals at Bondi.
If attendees settle on a backpackers in Bondi, on the Sat we can head down to the beach, find a spot, warm up and then get the comps done and dusted while our legs are still in reasonable shape.
On sunday we can either re-visit the golf course we did last time or we can just head to a park and do a new one.
While I want it to be chilled, it is still nats so I'll schedule comp start times and golf start time and stick to it.
I'll try to scope out a place where we could just show up and hire a court for a small fee in case of bad weather.
My current thinking is the weekend of 17-18 November - Copey are you done with football by then?
Also, I may pike out on one of the nights because I got sick of waiting for new footbaggers to join us so I decided to create one - s/he is scheduled for delivery around Christmas. It also means I'm doubtful for Oom next year - it's a possibility but I'll have to wait and see. |

Congratulations Dyalan!
And thanks for the nationals updates too. I'm heading back to Oz early October and am probably going to move to the Gold Coast. I don't have a particular preference for dates - I'll do my best to bethere whenever it is. Bondi sounds great! |

OK here's the plan - it will not change from this so get booking.
Sat 1st and Sun 2nd December.
We'll have the comps on Sat down at Bondi.
I won't have time to do t-shirts (if someone else wants to have a crack at getting some t-shirts going be my guest), but I'll try and order some bags for prizes.
If there are no other volunteers for judges I will judge. If someone else is happy to judge, I will compete.
Who's in? |

I'm 100% in! Thanks to Dyalan for the facebook prompt to show my face.
Also major congrats on your news mate.
Anyone considering coming up early/leaving late? I'm fairly sure I have an important presentation at work on Monday 3rd Dec which I'll verify at work tomorrow, bummer for me But could definitely arrange to come up Thursday or Friday.
And Copey - would definitely be interested in another Oom. Would most likely drive, if anyone else from Vic wanted to join me. Also I have a reliable car now unlike last time (still can't believe that thing got me all the way to the Oom and back, and that the superglue job I pulled on the side mirror actually worked). |
