Anzac weekend is too soon IMO. Sometime in June, probably late June will be better.
Lotus...did you book cheap flights or are you able to change them? Maybe you could reroute your return through Melbourne and we could have the comp over the weekend of the 19th June...
I would probably prefer to have it over a non public holiday weekend, as I have to work on public holidays anyway.

I don't have a real job and sell footbags for a living ... in Australia ... so yes, they are cheap flights .
Unfortunately, the return leg is via Sydney [not Melbourne] ... but I could see what is possible if that weekend is confirmed as best for everyone else.
You guys just find common ground on dates when everyone is available, and I'll see what eventuates. If I can come, I certainly will.
[note: It always seems such a rushed thing when held over two days though ... it would be great if more players could make themselves available for 3-4 days. Don't employers encourage the strive for excellence and give a few days holidays to employees attending national sporting championships anymore?]
also ... Is there any update on how many of the Melbourne boys are going to lace up the lavers for this hometown jam? Dan? Alex? Janis? Even Lynton and Brendan?
I would plummet out of contention for 3rd place ... but It'd be great to see all the community come out and mingle again .

I hope to see plenty of Lavers being dusted off, even if it's not for competition. Scott is back in Australia too. Once we have a date then we can find out if those guys are available too.
I was talking to Lynton a little while ago actually, he said he would probably come out and have a look although he said it was very unlikely he would ever be back on the competitive scene.
You could probably get some cheap flights from Sydney, actually I think Jetstar have some good sales on at the moment. I am quite happy to take some days off, we should spend about 4 days on the competition. I will probably take the whoe week off to be honest.

Any time between June 22 and July 5 (inclusive) would be great for me, otherwise I'll stay no more than 2 nights over the weekend, but if it's close to exams then I definitely won't go at all (last exam finishes on June 21).
I'm also injured at the moment, and have been since the end of last years AFL season. I think I probably need a knee reconstruction. I can play, but I can't do a lot of moves that involve fast movement with my right leg, and a lot of other stuff gives me pain, so unless that gets better, I doubt I'll compete.

2011 Australian National Championships:
when: June 24th - June 27th
Where: Melbourne Federation Square/Southbank
Events:
24/6 :
none. Arrival, settling in and maybe a kick.
25/6 :Fed Square/Melb Uni
Midday:Federation Square demonstration (looking into whether we can use the stage). I don't think we should hold any real events on stage, but explain the sport and maybe have some shred battles and sick 3 practice. If we want to hold a comp on stage though I think we should only do something like request. Although, if we aren't renewing then we can just give a demonstration outside the 7 eleven.
2-3 pm: Sick 3 competition
3-5pm: Golf event - venue will most likely be Melbourne Uni or somewhere in the city area.
-go out/etc afterwards
26/6 :Fed Square/Southbank
10-11 am : Shred Battles
12-1 pm: Routines
2-3 pm : Circle comp
27/6: Whatever. If we have enough people here on this day, we can change one of Sundays events to here to spread it out a bit.
Wet weather Spot: undecided but probably Southbank or Melb Uni gym(if I can get it for free).
Note: This is a tentative plan, changes can and will probably be made to suit a better schedule.
Accommodation: I can house a few at my place, don't know if anyone else in Melbourne will be able to. If we can't accommodate everyone, then probably stay at the YHA again this year.
Registration/admin stuff: Dyalan? Costs for membership this year etc Can someone get back to me on this asap. This includes T-shirt designs etc, will send pictures or ideas to whoever wants to help design this years logo.
International players: Of course we will invite Phil, however should we go out of our way to invite some international players? Maybe even pay for someone to come out here. What's the general consensus on this?
Merchandise/Prizes: Did we just ask for donations last year on modified or did we actually organise this?
I know I may be missing some stuff here......
Anyway this is what I have come up with guys. Let me know what you think so
I can complete the plan.

There is no way we are going to use the Stage at fed square, the guy said we had to pay for technicians/guards/pack up and set up crew and all this bulls#@%! in order to use it. Minimum cost was like $10,000. I said we don't need a technician/guard/ we would set up and pack up etc but they said its required and we can't do it ourselves.

Hi Ryan
I guess it's going to be a fairly small turnout this year (well it's never been a huge turnout, but it will probably be fairly similar to last year.) Due to that it should be pretty easy to be flexible with what's happening.
I have always thought that the park with the Captain Cook Cottage (Fitzroy Gardens?) would be a good place for some golf, not far from the city, nice wide open area, a few obstacles for variety.
You should just ask any of the mates you made at worlds that stitch if they would send you a bag as a prize, we don't need a whole lot of prizes really, but it's always nice to have something.
It's going to be a pretty small event, and we don't really have any money, so I don't think there's a need to have international players coming out.
