So whos in for Narooma IV?
Also would anyone be keen on a new years jam in lieu of Narooma this year? It seems popular in other counties. I was thinking tropical location, hostel, 3-4+ days. Anyone got any ideas? |

For a New Year's Jam, I really actually love the idea of doing some sort of "entertainment" on a boat in Sydney Harbour, or have some kind of boat trip as part of the trip.
I have pretty much confirmed I will just be heading down the coast for this year's new years, and I will probably be only able to get a couple of days off.
However, I also really like the idea of an Aussie NYJ. Either that, or to go to Finland for theirs...
As for the tropical location, that time of year in the tropics is generally the rainy season, and is prone to cyclones. When I was up in Airlie Beach, I was very lucky, and had barely any rain, however it can be dangerous to go to that sort of area (tropical) that time of year.
It is a great idea though, but probably count me out this year. Unless you want to do Narooma at New Year's time, though I think the Australia Day weekend works really well for the oom. |

You must have read our minds - Ian and I were just discussing the need to start Narooma preperations last thursday.
I'd prefer to keep Narooma on Oz day. It's my brother's b'day on Oz day but I don't think he'd miss me next year so I'd probably take a day or two off and make it a 4-5 day weekend (and heading direct to the oom instead of going via Townsville would mean an extra day!).
Ian was keen to get a boat and do some fishing - I think he'd prefer to go deep sea rather than into the bay.
We'd definitely have to hit up the bowl-o again - and I'll bring my tennis racket for some more Oz Open inspired tennis shenanigans.
I'm not much of a New Year's partier - I prefer to stay at home and avoid the masses - If you're considering converging on Sydney for NY - Harbour cruises are insanely expensive on NY and you have to pretty much camp out to get a good spot at a harbourside park these days - some councils even charge a nominal fee. |

| Right on, Oz day it is. We will organize a fishing charter this year for those interested, we should also do a bit of a hike up Mt Dromedary. So besides tennis, golf, beach and bowl o, anyone else got any ideas? |

have you thought of playing a bit of hack?
All those activities and spending time at the beach, that should have us covered. |

I suppose we could play a little kick bag. So whos in? Jamie you are still a Narooma virgin! Get involved this year!
Are we going to rent a house again? I think we could probably get something bigger than last year. |

Good to have you aboard lotus!
next question. Australia day is on a Wednesday, so do we go Saturday-Wednesday(22-26)or Wednesday-Sunday(26-30). i would prefer the latter but whatever works best for everyone else. |

| I don't mind at this stage - its too early to know whether it'll be easier to get leave for the mon/tue or the thur/fri - hopefully it will be okay either way. |

We talked about Narooma when we were kicking yesterday.
We will begin on Australia day, and go through to the weekend afterwards. |

| I think I might be going to NZ to hang out with Phil M on these dates. I think he is organising some kind of jam. Nothing decided yet though. |

Phil is talking about doing a jam in NZ, to coincide with the World Buskers Festival in Christchurch.
By the looks of things I will be getting married in early Feb, so I probably won't be able to commit to going to NZ, but I would really like to go.
There seems to be a lot less interest in the Oom this year. Maybe we could look at going to NZ instead, then doing a midyear tropical jam for our coastal location event (nice weather, no stingers). |

| I already told Phil I was going down there, its on the 26th Jan to 30th if I remember correctly. I don't know when narooma jam would be, but considering I will be going to NZ and Japan afterwards for 2 weeks, highly unlikely I will be able to get more time off for it(if its in late Jan, early feb). |

We talked more about it at Canberra - since Daniel will be otherwise engaged on the Sat after Oz day we were thinking it'd be better to do Narooma from the weekend before through to the Wed. It'll double as Daniel's buck's.
I think Ian mentioned this will probably suit him better too. |
