I prob wasnt born in any of ur generations so i dont really listen to AC/DC Metallica and all that. However I do love System of a Down, Linkin Park, Frenzal Rhomb is a band i just got into and even though its not really hard core rock Red hot chille peppers

I like alot of different types of metal but here are a few of my favorites.

Diecide, Nail Bomb, Carcass, Pantera (RIP Dime), 6ft Under, Atreyu (Don't know why), Killswitch Engage.

Those are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head for metal. Don't get me started on punk. But I bet theres another forum for that.

killswitch engage definitly rock
I just got to know fo them lately from the resident evil soundtrack and now they are in my mp3 player since (or for?) 1 or 2 month.

i like old rock better then new rock but the new stuff is kewl like korn, Disturbed, Floater, and lots more but what I like most is ACDC, Metallica, Alice in Chains there not old though, Kiss, Ozzy

heavy rock = deep purple ( check out "in rock" and "machine head !)

glam metal : early guns and roses / the first two albums, basically )

speed metal : anything anthrax Twisted Evil , kreator

I second Mars Volta.

Even though I don't consider it Heavy Metal, I'd suggest Tool. Tool is
a league of its own.
