Don't suppose someone else (with a little more time) could handle this one? If not in the next day or so, I will Smile

Thanks. Good idea.

Well, unfortunately I'm still putting finishing touches on it, so I don't exactly want a complete flood of newbies all trying to post stuff at once to the gallery. So I think of it as a "beta" right now 'til I formally announce it and put it in the menus on footbag.org (but it is there and I'm okay with people using it, obviously).

But I'll say one thing -- please be sure to follow the directions extremely closely because any failure to do so will result in problems. It's a pretty frail system 'til I put in some more failure handling. One major example is (and I could probably fix this in the time it takes to explain, but what the hell) you can't have spaces in file names!!! Don't use them.

But basically just go to your own private gallery by going to http://www.footbag.org/gallery/sets. Note that, as Allan said, you have to be an IFPA member to use this feature.

I also strongly request that people who upload stuff anywhere on the net avoid using Microsoft's proprietary and ill-supported WMV9 format. Please use WMV8 or 7, or else MPG, DIVX, or even better yet, QuickTime. Trust me, you'll make more people happy if you avoid that crappy Microsoft environment.

Hey guys,

What happens to an IFPA member's gallery if his membership (temporarily) expires? Specifically, if my registration expires in July and I renew at World's a month later (hypothetically), will my gallery shut down for that month?

Thanks.

Good question Smile

Steve can confirm this, but I don't believe anything happens to it. You just can't upload any new videos.

Allan's right. The theory behind IFPA membership on footbag.org is simply that you cannot change anything on the community resource without being a member. Of course, you can also only change certain things (mostly things you own, but there are places, such as the move list, where you can add your own tips or hints to the public list). Some areas still allow you to change things without being a member, but those are few and far between.

Anyway, at some point if it becomes a problem, I'm sure there could be some "moderation" / clean-up if a member has been expired for a looong time and is taking up tons of disk space with private stuff that was never made public. But we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

I haven't finished, as I said above, all the bells and whistles to make this a finished product, so don't think too hard about all the little things you may run across. Smile

Maybe you aren't aware, but we are not able to change the order of our video clips when editing a gallery. When you click to move it up or down, it says "you are not allowed to do this". I know you said it's kind of still in Beta function, but just wondering if it can be fixed.

Thanks.

Bug reports are much better made directly to me via private e-mail. Also, for bug reports you send me (via private e-mail), please try to give a lot more information so I can help you better.

It helps me help you if you take an extra 30 seconds to type more details such as exact URLs of examples of problem pages (exactly what you were doing, etc.) as well as precise spellings of error messages (so I can search through the code to find them).

In this case I believe I've fixed the problem you noted above, Eli. Let me know if not. It's hard for me to test non-admin functions since I'm an admin. Smile

Thanks Steve for this great service. I can see that is picking up quite well! I was wondering if there was anyway ti view a list of all member video galleris or has these been left out intentionnaly for privacy issues (for example if people upload files that they don't want other people to view)?

I'm uploading some vids as I post and will upload more in the future.
Again thanks.

No, you can't navigate through a hierarchy of private media (photos/videos) because that would imply that we were publishing those instead of our members.

Instead, if you view the profile of a member, you can see his/her "publicly-visible" media. So, if you upload media and say it's public, it will show up in your member profile. There're still some bugs in the way I present that stuff but it's reasonably functional. I'll fix it some day. But it's been like this since I launched the service.

I'd just like to say that you're doing a good job, Steve, and a grand service to footbag.
Please keep it up.

I agree, without this site and the free gallerys where would all the video's be hosted? Keep up the good work Steve.
