I think everyone is quite OK with your plan, which is probs why you haven't heard from any of us Wink.

I've already offered to design the T's [if you want] ... I've also offered up a great guy to print them in good screenprint [washproof] quality at reasonable prices. I saw that you asked above for people who wish to help design the logo/T's to let you know, so just re-iterating that I offered my services way back. If you want me to do it, please don't spring it on me at the last minute, and let me know asap [it all takes time, especially arranging the printing]!

I will of course be bringing some mini elemental freestyle bags for prizes, but am not in a financial position to offer anything more this year ... sorry!

AND Jeremy and I [both keen Bombers fans] will be attending the Essendon v Hawthorn game at the MCG on the Friday night!! So any fans / semi-fans of football are welcome to join us Razz.

We also have a newbie in Hobart [finally] who is so excited that he wants to come with us to Nationals this year. His name is Luke Wilcock [an athletic 19 year old soccer player] Very Happy.

Always good to have new players coming to the big event.

I will come to the match, in my time in Melbourne Hawthorn was "my team".

Hey lotus,

I guess I will need your help with the tee's etc. I was thinking of taking some photos and sending them to you as some inspiration for what I think should represent Melbourne on the tee. Got your email here, holidays start next week, taking photos then and will send them to you.

One last thing:
How do we make this an official event on footbag.org/p.s I am a member still if that helps.

Sorry I haven't been more active answering questions etc.

I'm flat out at the moment - I think I'm getting sick again (I just got over the flu) - and I leave for Europe next Friday so I'm not really going to be able to help much.

With work as busy as it is and with me being away for all of May I'm not expecting to be able to take any days off - that means I'll prbably arrive Friday night and leave Sunday night.

There is a chance I can get the Friday off - if so I'll come to the footy. If not I'll probably arrive too late. (On a side note - I went to the Bombers v Swans game a couple of weeks back and was sitting amongst the bombers fans in my swans gear - a couple of rows in front of Sheeds - the giants got thumped by the reserves in the earlier game - even though we didn't really deserve the win it was a good day - revenge for a couple of years ago when you guys won at the scg when the winning goal came from an inside 50 clearly kicked from out of bounds).

In terms of fees - I think you should start by working out what you need to charge to cover your costs, given the expected low turnout. Then add something to go to ausfootbag. If you're unsure, have look back at past nationals threads - the fees we charged in the last few years will give you a ball-park figure (keeping in mind that even though some of these events split the cost over more people- they were also longer and more expensive events).

Hey guys, long time since I posted. (or kicked for that matter) Noticed the upcoming aussie champs are happening in Melbourne, which means i'll come down and do a lot of watching..... and a bit of kicking. Kicked for the first time in a couple of years a couple of days ago and was amazed i could still land a couple of tricks together. Might have to do a bit more solo kicking to get the legs back into shape, to allow me to walk the day after a kick. Smile See you guys there. Being an Essendon supporter, I might even take up Lotus and his football offer.

That's awesome news Brendan Shocked.
It'll be great to see another old man come out Razz.

Go the Bombers!

... and before we set ourselves up for a low turnout, we should at least clarify who will attend!? As I see it, Lynton and Brendan are expecting to share some time with us, Dan will be present and competing, I'd expect Jamieson to pop on down to the big smoke and compete, and I also believe Alex said he'd come [hopefully to compete 'cause his game rocks]. I have not heard anything about Janis, but I really hope he comes also, as I'm sure many of us would love to have a go at some net [perhaps on the monday for those hanging around]?

Add those names to the die hards from last years nationals and we have a substantially larger showing and a great event! I feel the onus now is on all the Melbourne past and present players to support the event by putting their hands up as Brendan has and declaring their support for and/or participation in this event [whether they intend to compete or not]!

I haven't spoken to Lynton about him attending but i'm sure he will. Maybe Scott Kirchner will attend also, i spoke to him a few weeks ago, but before I new about the aussie champs.
I wont compete in freestyle, but i'll give net a go. I've got a net footbag if needed, also (don't tell him) but i've got Lynton's Sepak Takraw if that's required. It's certainly easier to use. Who has a net however?

I would say Lynton and Scott will both come but would be highly unlikely to compete. I kicked with Scott about 6 months ago, but he said he wouldn't be kicking too much. I talked to Lynton a couple of months back as well, and he said he would probably make it down and check it out.

Should make a Facebook event as well for it,I'm sure there are plenty of old heads that won't check the forum here, but if it comes up on their facebook feed they may be more interested.

Excellent Brendan, should be a good game to attend!

I can create the event if you like Ryan, or I could send you my log in details and you could create it for me, since you'll know all the details and I don't. We should apply for IFPA sanctioning too, just for the sake of supporting the sport. It just means we need to fill in a form and then send them our results. It also makes the event look better on the .org listing, and if you're hoping for media coverage or sponsorship it can't hurt.

Sorry I didn't post earlier but there is no way I would miss an Aussie champs in Melbourne Smile Actually there's almost no way I would miss any Aussie champs, it was only due to another commitment I wasn't able to make last year Sad

It's sounding good! Will be good to catch up with some of the old hands... and as an Essendon supporter I will definitely come watch the footy Smile A lot of Essendon supporters in the footbag community eh? We know our foot sports...

Awesome Jamieson ... on committing yourself and especially on being a Bombers supporter Cool.
[notice our 139 point win today ... against the mighty Gold Coast Rolling Eyes]

Tickets booked for Jeremy, Lotus, and Luke ... we fly out of Hobart at 6am on Friday 24th [arriving in Melbourne at some similarly ungodly hour not long thereafter] ... Jeremy and I fly home at 7.55pm Monday night, whereas Luke will stay a few days longer with family over there.

As for the Friday night football outing ... as an Essendon member, I plan to get my moneys worth and enact my members rights by bothering some poor girl on the essendon switchboard about our best bet getting tickets for the game [i.e. do I just rock up and get general admittance due to my membership and all the rest of you buy general admission tickets, or is it recommended that we all buy reserved seats beforehand to guaruntee admission for the Bombers v Hawks blockbuster, if there is a chance it will be a sellout!?]

If it is strongly recommended that we pre-buy, then I could perhaps get the appropriate number of tickets in a clump, and the rest of you could pay me on the night ... so over the next week or so, it would be great if those wanting to come could confirm so I know how many tickets to buy [and text me your Bombers or Hawks membership numbers if you are paid up, as it makes a big difference to prices of reserved seats]!
