After months of artificial light and hard indoor ground, today not only the date said "go out and play" but also the wheather played along and gave us a whopping 15 degreesC and even some sunrays for a little session.
Its so great, i had to write a pretty useless post, just to let you all know how much i like to get my hands dirrrty after landing a fkd up toespike or slipping on wet grass.
yay!

Trish is the principal of a school so... we have one.
Net was meant to be played outdoors though.

Net was also "meant" to be played with an 8 foot high net, with players not having to alternate contacts. But things change. One might even say they advance
In my case, advancement as it relates to gyms is seen in that I play net year-round, while you do not. My skills advance while yours lie dormant.
Was basketball meant to be played outdoors as well? How about football? or Badminton? or soccer? All of these sports can be played inside . . . does this oppose the spirit of the game too? |

jfc they really have changed you Jer. It makes me sad.
Can't we celebrate our love of the open air without chaos tainting it with their silly attitudes?

Oh Stevie,
It is funny with you sometimes, you provoke us then you say we have an attitude. Ah the fun of this useless forum.
I am sure if you lived in Oaktown, you would have come to some the 40+ indoor practices we had this winter.
Especially cause we not only played 40 times but we did finish over 9 kegs of beer since december. Beware of the ClONES! They will out drink you and then they may out play you too.
So, how many of you no talent duechebags aka NPR and you Justin( with those cool running shoes you play in) are gonna play in the best tourney in NA aka the Green Cup this year?
We actually have put for quite a planning effort this year, it should be a blast. Hope you make it. have fun in the SUN |

Oh wise Dusablon . . .
Tell us more about what net is "meant to be" like!
Was net meant to have plane fouls too? |

Are the finals of the THIRD best tourney in NA (after the US Open and the Beaver Open) going to be played in a dark, hard floor gym or at a park, on the grass, in the sunshine? nuf sed
happy spring!!! |

Now now children......
We play the game with honour. Let's verbally joust with honour as well. (unless it's the trash taling post......then feel free to break the plane with impunity)
I'd rather play in a gym than not play at all but given a choice.....outside all the way.
I won't be seeing you guys at the Green Cup this year. First match last year I tore my knee up pretty good and have been having a hell of a time rehabbing it ever since. It's hard when you can't play anywhere near the level you know you're capable of.
Have a great time at the most talent laden NA tournament of the year. I hope to see a few of you up in Vancouver this summer but I'll definitely see a lot of you at the Beaver, truly the funnenst footbag event of the year. |

Sorry to hear tat Jim; I hope you're able to heal up tha knee back to full strength. Knee problems suck!
As for gyms: they protect against harsh weather, injuries due to uneven terrain, having a sun disadvantage, and reduced light during the Winter time. I am grateful we never have to miss a practice, even when it is dark at 5PM and pouring outside.
Don't worry Deuce, I still play outside year-round . . . as I regularly attend the practices of two different net clubs.
I do love Spring time. |

I am playing a lot more often in the gym.
It is the future of the sport. Hopefully we do something about the flooring (cushioning sport court / astro-turf) but the lack of weather concerns makes tournaments more efficient and allows tourneys to be held year round even in harsh weather areas like Finland or Montreal.
At first I resisted the change in play that going indoors requires. Outdoors I am prone to a lot more sliding and outright crashing on the ground. Eliminating those tendencies was initially difficult but it has ultimately improved my overall game imo.
I still prefer the uneven grassy terrain with horrific sun spots and wind and bugs. |
