The RNH Contest 2008 was a blast. This was the first truly international RNH Contest and the number of competitors almost doubled. Canada, France, Finland, Germany and Sweden were represented at this event.
Unsurprisingly the reining European Champion Andi Wolff (GER) safely won open singles net. Unfortunately due to time shortage singles finals had to be played in just one game to 15 points. We repeat our apologies to Andi and Hakan Hellberg (SWE) the surprise challenger in this final. Hakan played a great tourney and made it to finals from his initial 11th seed.
Our friends from Icarus Miquel Clemente and Nicolas De Zeeuw dominated open doubles net loosing just one game in the entire tourney in semi-finals to Greg Lima and Arthur Ledain (RNH Footbag). Lino Landau and Marc Brunet (also RNH Footbag) reached finals for the first time after a tough victory over the reining European mixed doubles Champions Lisa Uebele and Andi Wolff (GER). Thanks to very strong play by Marc Brunet – semi-finals MVP. After losing in pool play against Greg Lima and Arthur Ledain, Andi Wolff and Lisa Uebele finally beat them in 3 games in the bronze match.
Serge Kaldany French Champion 2006 and 2007 easily won all freestyle events with Augustin Tiffou being the only one able to challenge him.
A particular mention goes to Sébastien Maillet who made it for the first time out of his pool in singles net thanks to an up-set over last year’s semi-finalist Eric Fonteneau. Sébastien also played his best freestyle routine ever and almost made it to the podium.
There are already some pictures online thanks to Mouss Kabbal. You can view them by clicking on this link http://www.footbag.org/gallery/showset/rnhcontest
And last but not least our special thanks goes to Thomas Sustrac our chef de cuisine who once again made everybody happy with his lunch and diner meals.
Thanks to all players who participated at the 6th edition of the RNH Contest and see you all next time.
