What do you think about using/eating plants which are improved by transfering their DNA.
The pros are that we were able to feed the world in future ( we will get problems with the plough land .)
You could produce cheaper.
The products got lots of advantages for the consumer at first view.
The cons would be that the influence to the flora is not assessable.
Moreover the influence is not removeable.
In my opinion we have to go for gen food cause we have no other opportunity to generate enough food for the world.
Adding to this the have done this step in past for the feed of our animals.

I have no problem with gm food in general but I definitely think we should take a cautious approach and make sure we test things out a lot before jumping across. Imagine if it turns out that gm foods gave you cancer. Very unlikely but is it worth the risk?

Indeed. It needs time to progress for genetically altered foods to be acceptable yet. It'll be a great idea and do well for economic reasons, but its far from being completely tested safely.

Like Jeremy, I think we should be very cautious about GM foods. I doubt any of them will end up causing people cancer (well, you never know...), but what worries me more are the potential ecological impacts.
And I disagree with Dr Jay, GM foods are not the only opportunity to generate enough food for the world.
just found this thread, dont know why i missed it so long.
i think,gm food is a big thread to us,in the state it is made now.i´m sure, when and if the techniques are researched better, and the wholöe thing is better tested and stuff it will be good for us.
but now it is just bad for the envoirement.in the us there are several bad plants that are, because of theyre contact with gm grains, imune to most commone herbizides.so the farmers will need harder toxines to get rid of the bad weeds.thus the industries will have to make more powerfull grains so it can survive this toxic holocaust, thus, making the bad weeds also resistant, you cant avoid good weeds and bad weeds exchanging theyre genetic materials, thats nature, try stop the wind blowing!
and the thing that bothers me the most is this:the more toxines on the fields, the more toxines in our bread!we eat so much trash, ever wondered why a properly raised chicken cost allmost tripple price of a "industry" chicken?what do you think?if you think about it you will realize that it cant be too good.a withworker of me lives on a ecological farm, she visited many "industrial" farms, she told me what they feed the animals...trash and theyre own shit...and to avoid that they get sick from it they give the animals so many medicaments, and this stuff lands in your body, making viruses imune to antibiotica and stuff...and be honest, when you have stuff in your body that is supposed to react with genetic material of viruses, and it has nothing to do in your body....what would you do?right, react with human genoms.why do you think cancer is sooooooooo big this last...200 years, before there was allmost no cancer.and why do the ageborders for certain "elder illnesses" drop every year?
think about it!
ps:i´m no super eco dude that just wears linen,i also eat stuff from walmart and so on,but i am slowly getting concious about me and my enviroment(thanks to my withworker)and i will change my style of eating and so on...sure,i will die anyway
