When I want to extol the virtues of playing footbag upon one of my friends or a newcomer that has asked to play with me (that happens all the time, I try to convert them! lol) I always talk about the stretching benefits.

Hacky sack started as a warm-up routine for some pacific islanders (this is widely debated, but this is one of the sport's many origins around the world, I mean really who can claim they invented kicking a bag up and down?)

I can't seem to write a single paragraph without putting side thoughts in parenthesis today it seems (is it indicative of something in my personality maybe???) but yes, if I had to roll my entire benefits speech into one point, it all comes back to the stretching for me. It's like yoga, you're working out and stretching. Cardio workout too, which Yoga isn't actually.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't commented in a while.

I personally don't mind where we hold it as long as we hold it, even if its more like a gathering than a real championships. I think we should start getting a date in soon so people have time to get flights etc. As a backup, personally dont mind organising the same event as last year here again, or even out in Bendigo if I can get Jamie involved. Sydney would be good, even if its just a friday-monday thing like we usually do. I can get time off whenever I want to, so any dates are good for me. The other option we have is to fly somewhere and just randomly have the event (like Bali lol).

Been kicking a little but still got no company down here. Really hoping I can find some players soon. Also need to go play with some of the best to improve my form, but worlds is too expensive, hopefully it goes to Canada or Us next year.

Thanks guys

I've been footbagging for about 2 years now. And i'm trying to get more people to join me. They always seem to ask me why? and say its a stoner sport. It pisses me off. I try to tell them that its one of the best sports to play, but they dont seem to listen. Could somebody help me out??

Not sure how it caught on in the tennis world but I've heard "volley" mistakenly used for "ralley" during my teaching years. Not just a few times, but from many rec. players in a half dozen states. It still implies hitting back and forth over the net so there isn't a ton of confusion esp. in footbag since you really are volleying...but in tennis it stands out more.

I think the footbag net is more of a ball than a bag. The ball sports like tennis, baseball, basketball, football they are all various weights, sizes, shapes materials...so I think a leather 32 packed with pellets is more of a ball. The freestyle bag is a softer cloth llike floppy bag.

Too bad volleyball is taken...

I like kick volley but i still go back and forth saying net or footbag net.
